Liturgical Schedule
At Saint Cecilia, we offer online liturgical celebrations regularly during the seasons of Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter, as well as on certain feast days and occasions. Join us live on the Saint Cecilia Facebook page or email us for details.
Liturgy of the Hours
Morning Prayer (Lauds) and Evening Prayer (Vespers) are the two “hinges” of the Church’s Divine Office or Liturgy of the Hours. These prayers are composed of psalms and canticles, and typically include a hymn, reading, and intercessory prayer. The Second Vatican Council emphasized that the Office is not exclusive to religious communities and the clergy, but is the prayer of the whole People of God, and encouraged parishes to foster the celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours, especially Morning and Evening Prayer.
Taizé Ecumenical Prayer
Taizé Prayer is a meditative style of prayer practiced by the ecumenical community of brothers founded after World War II by Brother Roger in the small village of Taizé, France. Established as a parable of communion, the brothers’ mission is to pray for and work towards peace, reconciliation, and unity among divided peoples, especially Christians. The Prayer in the style of Taizé consists of the chanting of simple songs—often in several languages, scripture reading, and silence. To learn more, visit www.taize.fr.
Parish Accessibility
The church building is fully accessible by elevator at both the street level entrance on Belvidere Street (at the front of the building), and at the entrance on the corner of St. Cecilia Street and Scotia Street (the left side of the building).
